On Thursday evening, May 30, community members gathered together in Perry, Iowa to honor and celebrate elders, enjoy a dinner and the presentation of two awards, hear a message from WHO radio personality Van Harden, and reflect on the importance of intergenerational involvement throughout life.

A special VIDEO sharing the impact of intergenerational involvement of the children at Acorns & Oaks Christian Daycare and the residents at Perry Lutheran Homes Willis campus was featured.

The Exemplar Award - given each year to a respected elder in the Perry community who has lived a life worth emulating - was presented posthumously to Mr. Tom Quinlan and recieved by his children Tom Quinlan, Jr., Kathy Hoskinson, Dennis Quinlan and Patty Schlotterbeck. WHO radio personality Mr. Van Harden, who was given his start in radio by Tom Quinlan years ago at local Perry radio station KDSL, presented the award to the Quinlan family.

Gifts given during the fundraising portion of this year's dinner support the care of Perry's elders who don't have resources to pay for the care they need when they can no longer live alone. At the dinner, $32,625 was raised for this effort! Your gift today is still needed and will be added with gifts from others to help us care for those who have cared for us, and now need us to care for them.

Thank you and God bless you for loving and caring for our elders!
